I'd been wanting to write an anti-queerphobia song for a while, but in late September the Senate's decision on "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" prompted me to finish it. There's a lot of screaming
“Smart Bombs”
Be gone, ignorance.
Raise the collective intelligence.
Smart bombs away.
Stand up, you defeatists.
We’ll make it safe to walk home alone at night.
Come out, all you cowards.
We’ll make it safe to hold hands in broad daylight.
Cast off the cloak of concealment.
Join my crusade, scream with me and be vehement.
Don’t ask me if I’m a freak and I won’t tell you you’re filthy and you’re weak.
Don’t tell me who I can and can’t love and I won’t fit my hand around your throat like a glove.
Don’t tell me that I’m inherently wrong and I might not condemn you in my next song.
Obliterate the ignorance.
Educate the innocents.
Annihilate the prejudice.
Terminate intolerance.
Before it’s too late.
Stop preaching intolerance.
The gods hate your prejudice.
Smart bombs away.
I’ve been called all manner
Of insults, slurs and other awful things.
But I don’t shield myself
From disbelief or worse, from hatred’s sting.
My only armor is knowledge and confidence.
Join my crusade, scream with me, no more somnolence.
Smart bombs away.
Cluster smart bombs away.
Cluster F-bombs away.
F-bombs away.
Fuck you, ignorance.
Fuck you if you brainwash the innocents.
Fuck you, prejudice.
Fuck you if you promote intolerance.
Before it’s too late.
It’s still not too late.
