I had a frustrating experience trying to get an ace ring at local jewellers. I went to several places saying I wanted a black ring, size 15. Nearly every sales clerk tried to sell me a silver ring. Once I managed to explain that I wanted a BLACK ring, which took about five tries, and it needed to be size 15, they typically pulled out a black ring they didn't know the size of and didn't bother to measure it. One clerk gave me a nice ring and I put it on and couldn't get it off. She had to apply jeweller's grease to my finger before it could be removed, with the result that I had jeweller's grease all over my finger. That was really blech. The ring, after she did measure it, turned out to be a size 12. Another place found a size 14 but wanted $130 for it. So I turned to eBay and found a seller in Ireland offering a decent hash thumb ring for $10, free shipping. I bought it and it arrived in the mail today. Here's a link to a photo of it on my hand: i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m493/michaelsmoker2/Michael%20Smoker%20mugshots/acering.jpgHope people like it, even though it might get me mistaken for a dope fiend. Ace rings make me so happy ^_^ See, I was lazy and just painted a mood ring with black nail polish. I'm getting sick of touching it up, though, so I think I'm going to shellac it. Actually, Michael, couldn't you paint over the marijuana leaves with black nail polish, or even ordinary paint, if you don't want to be mistaken for a dope fiend?

Yes, I definitely could paint over the pot leaves, but I'm kinda ambivalent because I like the decorative aspect of the ring. I'll see whether I have any issues while wearing it outside. Plywood's ring is a lot nicer than mine, but ya get what ya paid for. Michael

I was doing the black nail polish deal on a plain steel ring for a little bit, but it would chip off entirely within a week and half. Frustrating. I currently have my eye on a black steel spinner ring though. Not only does it demonstrate awesome aceness, but it also provides entertainment for those long, tedious hours!

Mine lasts MONTHS and that's with me wearing it all the time but for when I sleep. I use Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails "Black Out." Durable stuff.

Granted, it was probably pretty cheap. How much does yours cost?

Three dollars and twenty-nine cents, if my memory serves me.

Maybe I'll look into that brand then, before forking out the big eight bucks on the spinner.

I get my nail polish at CVS; I don't know how much it costs elsewhere.

Murray, I have a butterfly spinner ace ring and love it. Well worth the $8 imo. --plywood
