I figure this is important as I almost didn't join because the current default skin hurts my eyes a bit. I'd suggest a softer purple, or darker purple.
Plus I know from another pro-board I am on that there are tons of skins you can add that is a members choice. I don't know if you have to add it or not, if you need help with that I know HTML and (very little) CSS.

Hey,
Yeah, purple is hard because it shows up differently on different screens. I can make a tame skin that you can choose to look at.

Definitely tamer. If there weren't another option that's easier on the eyes I would not stay.

At the moment I'm having to highlight all the text on a page to be able to read it! The purples look good and I love the gradient effect on the bar-bits (oh, my technical terminology) - I don't think it's a case of the purple itself being a problem as there being just a little too much of it? Particularly where people's posts are, the bits you need to be able to read. I think it'd be a lot easier on the eyes if that was a bit of a softer/more neutral colour.

Believe me, I've tried; I can't change the purple any more. This is as good as it's going to get. If the purple makes things hard to read, why don't you switch to the blue skin? I made the blue because I thought the purple might show up funny/hard to read on some people's monitors.

Would you guys feel better if I changed the default skin to the blue? Because while KotST in purple looks lovely on my computer--and some others--I have now seen it on computers with different screen settings and yeah, it can be ugly.

I feel like people might be more willing to stay if the blue was the default screen, and then they were let know that there's also a purple option for those who like purple.
The purple screen actually looks very nice on my computer, but I find the blue much easier to read. Since I also think the blue looks very pretty, I tend to stick with the blue.

I've giving a cheer, because at every computer I've seen it on, the purple was extremely jarring.
