My friends started a proboard a little while ago, which I hadn't gotten around to signing up to. My best friend is one of the members there, and he showed me argument. templemore.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=48&page=2I'm pretty pissed off about how they continually treat somebody's personal offense as theory, and use the most asinine arguments to justify why excluding people from the phrase 'normal people' is okay. Part of me wants to sign up just to explain why they're being so insulting, while another part wants to cut myself off from that group altogether. This isn't the first time my friends have made my best friend and me feel alienated. I'm thinking of writing a blog post or article or something on the crucial difference between the dictionary definition of the word 'normal' and the connotations of the phrase 'normal people' (especially when applied to groups who already live in a world that continually sends implicit messages that they are abnormal), but right now I'm feeling far too hurt and angry.
